Norwegian black metal band Ancient was formed in 1992 and is considered one of the most significant representatives of the second wave of Scandinavian black metal. Led by founder and frontman Aphazel, Ancient have forged a distinctive sound that blends classic Norwegian black metal with strong pagan, folk, and epic elements.
The band is widely recognized for their cult albums “Svartalvheim” (1994), “The Cainian Chronicle” (1996), and “Mad Grandiose Bloodfiends” (1997), which left a deep mark on both the European and global black metal scenes.
Throughout their career, they have worked with labels such as Listenable Records and Metal Blade Records, and have performed extensively across Europe, North and South America.
